Shoot & Share made me this fancy little video... so I'll pop that up first...
Why hello! It's getting close to the end of 2018 which means I'm ridiculously late in sharing these on the blog, but better late than never or something eh!? I figure I should probably share them before the 2019 contest begins! The week before Jacob was born, I entered a bunch of images in the 2018 Shoot & Share worldwide contest. This was the third year I have entered and I LOVE it so much every time! The 2018 Photo Contest broke records with 413,000 photos submitted, 175,000 unique entrants and voters, and a whopping 81 MILLION contest votes collected! You can read more about my 2016 and 2017 entries, but I thought I would just quickly share with you a few of this years images - two placed in the Top 100 in the world in their categories, four others were finalists, and others placed in the top percentiles in their categories. It's just a bit of fun, and it's extremely addictive! Shoot & Share made me this fancy little video... so I'll pop that up first...

I was fortunate enough to meet Elliot, Paige, Huxley and Toby in their home, to photograph a wee slice of daily life for a NZ Rugby edition of The Parenting Place magazine! I LOVED this shoot... natural, happy, family orientated lifestyle photos around home, with two seriously cute little kids. Huxley and Toby just melted my heart... and obviously melt their parents too! These guys are such an awesome family unit - check out the little video and magazine article on the All Blacks website here.
And I also love The Parenting Place and what they stand for - Family is everything! If you want little snippets of encouragement and awesome advice and resources for all the challenges and joys of parenting, their website is well worth a look. Meet amazing little Sione! He is a special little man in our lives, as we've been getting to know Tanz and Andy as great friends over the past year or so! I loooved heading into the Matoto's home to document this crazy amazing newborn stage for them. These guys have built a solid foundation of love on which to raise a family. They beam with pride over their little fella, and they are absolutely justified to do so! He is just delightful... This adorable wee button, Anna Belle, has graced the blog before... I'm super lucky to photograph this beautiful family at least once a year! I adooooore photographing toddlers. They never fail to bring such sweet sponteniety, raw emotion, hilarious antics, and busy chaos to shoots! And I thrive off that! Toddlers aren't designed to sit still... it's their prerogative to just do what they wanna do! And because I think this is often how parents feel after shoots with toddlers (as they naturally attempt to get them to "behave"), I thought I'd share what Aimee and Richard emailed after they had seen the photos.... "Kimberley.... Kimberley.... Kimberley.... these are GORGEOUS!! I honestly thought the shoot didn’t go so well on our part because it was so chaotic... but I should know by now that you always get the awesome shots! A million thanks!!" I was lucky enough to meet newborn Imogen and her proud big brother, Harry, at their gorgeous home! Imogen was only 12 days old... such a perfect little girl xx Another two little cuties for you to meet - Laurie and Oliver are suuuch great little buddies! I absolutely loved doing a couple of shoots for the Armstrong family around Dunedin. Such a fun and gorgeous wee family! And I know these photos have been sent to the other side of the world for family to enjoy... Meet Alayna, Sam, Archie & Charlie! I photographed this awesome family on the day that Sam and Alayna got married! They had a private ceremony on a stunning spring day, and then celebrated with family photos with their gorgeous boys. I adored these two wee fellas! Congrats Alayna and Sam :) HUGE thanks again to all of these awesome families who let me into their lives to capture their precious people! And who allow me to share some work too :) Appreciate you all greatly! xoxo
I've got plenty of photos of the utterly adorable Rout Family kids to make your heart melt!! These beautiful little kids were SO much fun to photograph... Lorelei, Evie and Vivian are such happy, hilarious, high-energy, gooorgeous kids. We had a ball running around wherever they wanted to go at Queens Park in Invercargill. They couldn't have put on a better loving-sibling show if they had tried... I'm sure it's not alwaaays this harmonious and affectionate between the kids at home, but they certainly are a tight-knit little trio when they want to be! Lots of beautiful spring colours and happy, playful little smiles to see here...
It's time for another mash-up blog of a handful of portrait shoots from over the past 9 months or so! Whilst juggling working and having Eli full-time too, my time for blogging has become pretty sparse! So in order to actually share some work, I have to make a compromise somewhere... and that means not able to blog every shoot and write as I used to! But when it's ok with my wonderful clients, I do love to share some of the gorgeous families, toddlers, couples, & baby bumps that I've had the privilege of photographing!
This first gorgeous little face belongs to Miss Tilly! She came into the studio to help me model a little tutu which I needed to photograph for a client... and I couldn't help taking more gorgeous photos of her exploring the studio too... I've got some seriously talented friends! Friends who do cool things - like design and handmake beautiful clothing, create amazing decor, and up-cycle the most gorgeous furniture... and open up their own shops! My friend Becca and her Mum Judith are the talent behind Spruce Design Store - a stylish and affordable shop in Mosgiel! They have just moved to a new shop at 5 Factory Road, and it's filled with the most amazing things... from cute little baby clothes and knitwear, nursery decorations, kids clothing, womens and menswear, cushions, furniture and lots of fun little one-off things!
We got together with some awesome little families to show off some of their quality, snuggly, everyday family wear! Enjoy this wee peek into their range of clothing (there's so much more too!), with some pretty cute little faces too :) One of my faaaavourite things is getting to capture my beautiful clients again and again. I met Aimee, Richard and Bandon (the dog!) for a shoot in 2013... and then last year they surprised me by letting me know they had had a beautiful wee girl called Anna Belle! I photographed Anna Belle at home as a newborn, and then again at 9 months old. Far out, what a little sweetie she is! In fact, the whole family are just SO incredibly lovely... it's always such a pleasure to hear from them!
They wanted natural, homely feeling photos of Anna Belle... capturing life as it was, in that crazy, beautiful, sleepless, heart-filled-to-the-brim time :) These tiny humans are so much smarter than they often get credit for! We watched in awe as our niece and nephew communicated and expressed themselves so extensively with baby sign language long before they could talk... and we were keen as beans to try it when we had our own children! We began consistently using few simple signs with Eli at around 5 months old - "food", "milk", "finished", "more", "Daddy" and "Mummy" - and after a couple of months his reactions suggested he was understanding what we were signing. I'll never forget when Eli clearly signed "milk" back to us for the first time though... he was just over 9 months old and we were flying above the Southern Alps on a plane to Wellington. Liam and I just looked at each other with our mouths wide open and with melted hearts.... did that just happen?! We hadn't just been signing idiotically to a brick wall... this little munchkin had been soaking it all up and learning an amazingly powerful communication tool. He was so little, yet he was telling us what he wanted and needed well before he had the ability to speak. So rewarding!
Eli just wanted to show you all how much his Teddy and this chair shrunk over his first 14 months of life! So just as a reference... first photo is 0 months and the last photo is 14 months! 12 months is bottom middle!
We have this printed and framed in our hallway and I loooove it! He's always been a busy boy and was quick to get on the move... I love seeing his movement and cheeky personality develop each month! I am hoping to do this every month until he is 2, and then perhaps every birthday until he is 21 (if he will still let me! Perhaps I'll still be bribing him with food...) ;) xx |
